Royal Rajasthan on Wheels - 13 days

In this tour you will explore Royal Rajasthan known for colors and its forts and palaces. We have carefully selected cities to give you the best of the experiences of the Indian state which is also known for its Maharajas and Maharanis. All the visits are accessible by wheelchair. You will not only visit UNESCO World Heritage sites but also well preserved forts and palaces reminding you of bygone royalty. No visit would be complete without visiting a local Indian family over a meal and making a cultural exchange.   

Day 1 : Arrive Delhi

Arrive Delhi.

You will be met at airport by our office representative who will accompany you to your hotel.

On reaching hotel, check-in assistance (check-in time at hotel is 14h00).

Day 2 : Delhi

Incase of late night arrival on Day 2, this morning will be free to relax at hotel.

Later start your tour of India with orientation of New Delhi. New Delhi was designed by British architects, Sir Edwin Lutyens and Sir Herbert Baker. Your will drive pass President House, Indian Parliament, India Gate and Connaught Place.

Later visit to UNESCO World Heritage site of Qutab Minar (Wheelchair accessible). Built in 1193 by Qutab-ud-din Aibak, Qutab Minar is 73m high and surrounded by lush green gardens.

Day 3 : Delhi

Morning relax at the hotel.

Proceed to a prominent Sikh house of worship, Gurudwara Bangla Sahib. Most parts of this religious site are Wheelchair accessible. Once you enter the main building, you will be mesmerized with the great interior housing holy book Guru Granth Sahib. Around the holy book, there is space to be seated on the floor to listen to “kirtan – the live devotional singing’ and soak in the atmosphere.

Continue to cremation site of Mahatma Gandhi, the Raj Ghat. Black marble square platform is inscribed with his last words Hai Ram (Oh God) is accessible on Wheelchair.

Later in the evening, proceed to lush green Lodi Garden spread over 90 acres. Garden is beautifully dotted with well-preserved ruins of 15th century belonging to Lodhi and Mughal dynasties.

Depending on time and interest, other possible accessible sites that could be visited on Day 2 and Day3 are Bahai’s temple (closed on Monday), National Museum (closed on Monday and National Holidays) and open air marketplace Dilli Haat.

Day 4 : Delhi / Agra (by road – approx. 4hrs drive)

After relaxed breakfast, drive to Agra.

Late afternoon visit The Taj Mahal (Wheelchair accessible) built by Shah Jahan in memory of his beloved wife Mumtaz Mahal. Designated as UNESCO World Heritage site in 1983, Taj Mahal remains as one of the world’s most celebrated structures (closed on Friday, open from sunrise to sunset).

Day 5 : Agra / Jaipur (by road – approx. 5hrs drive)

Relaxed morning.

Continue your visit of Agra by proceeding to another historical and UNESCO World Heritage site, Agra Fort. This 16th century monument is wheelchair accessible is also known as Red Fort.

Later drive to Jaipur, the pink city.

Enroute you have possibility of visiting yet another Wheelchair accessible UNESCO World Heritage site of Fatehpur Sikri (the city of victory). This 16th century city was established by Emperor Akbar but vacated after 10 years due to shortage of water.

Day 6 : Jaipur

This day would be long and probably bit tiring also, so we have to start earlier than other days.

Morning visit 16th century yellow colored stepwell named as Panna Meena ka Kund (accessible for wheel chair) surrounded by beautiful temples.

Continue further to Amber Fort (partially accessible to wheelchair) known for its architectural splendor.

Designated as UNESCO World Heritage, grand and opulent Amber Fort proudly houses grand palaces, temple, garden and ornate gates.

After lunch, proceed to beautiful City Palace (most of the sites are Wheelchair accessible) which still houses erstwhile royal family of Jaipur.

Adjacent to City Palace is 18th century astronomical observation site, the Jantar Mantar (wheelchair accessible). This UNESCO World Heritage site built by the Maharaja Sawai Jai Singh II has collection of some 20 fixed astronomical instruments.

Day 07 : Jaipur

Morning relaxed.

Today you will spend some quality time in the company of an elephant at Dera Amer, located in the outskirts of Jaipur city. You will learn many facts about this gentle giant and may also get an opportunity to bathe him. After sumptuous lunch in this beautiful surrounding, return to hotel to relax.

In the evening, if interested in visiting a spiritual site and to know about local life, we would suggest you to visit a Hindu temple (wheelchair accessible).

Day 08 : Jaipur / Pushkar / Jodhpur (by road – approx. 7hrs drive)

Morning drive to Jodhpur, founded by Rao Jodha. City is also known as Blue City, because Brahmins, used to paint their houses blue to keep insects away and also to keep their houses cool during the summer.

On the way, stop at Pushkar, a sacred Hindu site. City is known for its 14th-century temple dedicated to Lord Brahma “creator of Universe”. Its holy lake is site for pilgrims bathing to wash their sins and perform religious ceremonies. Annual Camel Pushkar fair is also organized in this city.

Day 09 : Jodhpur

Morning visit Mehrangarh Fort (partially accessible by wheelchair) standing atop a rocky cliff 400 feet above the city. We recommend to use elevator which takes you to the terrace with beautiful view of fort and city. Depending upon your mobility, you can decide to visit other sections of the fort as same are not accessible to wheelchair.

Continue to the marble memorial known as Jaswant Thada (visit from a distance). Also known as “Taj Mahal of Marwar”, it was built in memory of Maharaja Jaswant Singh ji II of Jodhpur.

Later explore the local market around historical clocktower. This market is crowded with locals, dressed in their colorful attire, who come to buy their daily needs. You will find anything and everything like bangles, imitation jewellery, vegetables, fruits, fabric, spices etc.

Day 10 : Jodhpur / Ranakpur / Udaipur (by road – approx. 6hrs drive)

This morning you will drive past beautiful countryside continuing your tour of India and reach the city of lakes, Udaipur.

Enroute stop at Ranakpur for lunch followed by a short temple visit (visit from outside). Ranakpur is one of the main sacred sites for Jain religion followers.

Day 11 : Udaipur

Morning relaxed.

Later transfer to City Palace complex on the bank of Lake Pichola. Start the tour by visiting City Palace (partially accessible by wheelchair). You will appreciate its architecture with mosaic, mirror and miniature painting work.

Continue to The Vintage and Classic Car Collection located in the premises of Garden hotel. This car collection and museum include some beautiful vintage cars. One of its fine collection 1934 Rolls-Royce Phantom was used in the Bond film Octopussy.

At the Garden hotel, you can enjoy vegetarian Thali lunch.

After lunch proceed to Saheliyon ki Bari (garden of women) which has lotus pond, white marble elephants and fountains. While in Udaipur, you should also visit painting shops which are still keeping traditional miniature art form alive.

Day 12 : Udaipur / Delhi (by flight - approx. 1 hr 20 min duration)

Morning free to relax at hotel.

Transfer to airport to connect flight to Delhi.

You can end your India tour by visiting a local family for dinner and share your experiences. This could be one of the beautiful souvenirs to carry back home (depending on your flight schedule, you can visit Indian family at beginning of tour as well).

Later connect flight to next destination.

Day 13 : Delhi / Fly back
