Udaipur - The City of Lakes

The City of Lakes, Udaipur is also referred as “Vince of the East”. Located around soothing lakes and floating Lake Palace, surrounded by floating Aravalli hills and dotted with fairytale palaces, historic temples makes it a romantic city of India. Udaipur was founded by Maharana Udai Singh II in 1553. City offers many hotel options of Wheelchair accessible hotels and adapted rooms for wheelchair users.

City Palace

Iconic landmark of Udaipur, the City Palace complex with several palaces, overlooks the placid Lake Pichola. Its balconies, cupolas and towers give a wonderful view. Whole Palace is not accessible because of narrow allies and stairs but you can still visit some part of palace on Wheelchair.

Sahilion ki Bari

A garden for women, Sahelion ki Bari is beautiful peaceful garden with fountains, white marble elephants, lotus pool etc. It seems that this garden was laid out for the enjoyment of 48 women attendents who came as part of a princess’ dowry.

Vintage car collection

Located within Garden hotel premises, is royal collection of classic and vintage cars owned by Maharanas of Udaipur. Collection of splended vehiles like Cadillac, Chaverlot, Morris etc tells about their elite lifestyles. Within same complex is vegeterian restaurant which serves traditional Thali and can be used for lunch. This restaurant is accessible by wheelchair.

Miniature Painitings – Art of Udaipur

Udaipur is also famous for old miniature art still preserved by some families. These miniature paintings portays colorful and opulent culture of Rajasthan along with scenes from mythology, hunting scenes, court scenes, nature, animals and other motifs. Each art work, done on paper, ivory, wood or even on silk cloth, involves great amount of detailing. Colors are extracted from various natural resouces like flowers, stones etc.  To enjoy this art work, you can visit one of the art galleries around Sahillion ki Bari with easy access of wheelchair.
